OWNERS NAME: Pedro Pena
SUB MODEL: Pace Car
The 1969 Camaro Pace car came equipped with the Super Sport powertrain. The iconic 350 V8 engine was paired with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 automatic transmission or a 4 speed Muncie stick shift. The privilege to own one came with a fairly high price tag at $3,405 for a base model. To make the experience of pace car ownership as close to the real deal as possible, Chevrolet offered and recommended piling on a few options such as Positraction, power steering, a power top, AM radio, and front and rear spoilers. Chevrolet initially planned to build approximately 6,400 examples of the pace car, working out to 1 per dealership. In reality, though, only 3,675 1969 Camaro pace cars ever came to be. The Pace Car edition remains an iconic vehicle in Chevrolet’s history and serves as an eye-catching reminder of the storied past of the Camaro lineup.
This 1969 Camaro Pace car came equipped with a 350 small block hooked up to a 4 speed Muncie manual transmission. This car is all numbers matching. The motor, transmission, carburetor, starter, rims, caps and rings for the rims are original to the car. The interior is also original. The paint and top was replaced sometime in 1985. I was told by the previous owner that I’m the fourth owner of the car.
