BRIEF MANUFACTURER DETAILS AND SIGNIFICANT HISTORY OF CAR: Henry Ford’s first attempt at building a gas-powered vehicle.

He found a design for a two-cylinder horizontal engine that he loosely copied, and built a simple bicycle-tired car with which to experiment on the engine.  Only one example was built, as he moved on to bigger and better vehicles.  The original Quadricycle currently resides at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

BRIEF STORY OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE:

In the early 60’s, an engineer named George DeAngeliss working for Ford, decided he wanted to build a replica of Henry’s Quadricycle. Ford gave him permission to disassemble much of it and make blueprints and drawings of all the details.  He built three examples, and afterward made his drawings available for purchase by enthusiasts wanting their own Quadricycle.

I built this car from his drawings, and also as many close-up pictures of the original car as I could find.  Those two things together make this car one of the most exact copies of the Quadricycle around.
