This was the first year for a production Woody station wagon, before then they were called Depot Hacks. Bodies were built by outside carriage makers. 1929 marked the first year Ford built station wagon bodies in-house, rather than relying on outside carriage makers. The company used its own wood, including maple, birch, and basswood, for the frames and panels. In 1929 there were 1,507,1322 model A produced the biggest production year. But only 1400 Woodies were produced by Ford in 1929.

BRIEF STORY OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE:

Car manufactured 1/29/1929 and titled and registered in California. After the original owner died family kept car until 1989/90 and sold it to a museum in Minnesota. Car was sold to me in 2011 and titled a registered in Hawaii. Wood was refinished and engine was cleaned internally to resolve overheating. Car was featured on Hawaii 50 and two local TV shows as background.
