BRIEF MANUFACTURER DETAILS AND SIGNIFICANT HISTORY OF CAR:

The IKA Torino, was  made by Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA) between 1966 and 1981, under an agreement with American Motors Corporation (AMC). IKA was eventually bought out by Renault in 1975 to form Renault Argentina S.A.
The Torino was built  in both two-door hardtop and four-door sedan variants. It has been described as “Argentina’s national car”.
The project was presented by IKA CEO, James McCleod and sponsored by the Race car driver Champion Juan Manuel Fangio.
The body has the basic shape of the 1964 Rambler American 440H.  Restyled in Italy by Carrocerias Pininfarina, back in Argentina the model was equipped with the Jeep Tornado engine, a 230 OHC with single or triple carburetors. For transmission the ZF  4 gear fully synchronized box was chosen.
The Torino proved popular and successful on the racing circles, particularly in Nürburgring-Germany, ” La Marathon de la Route” a grueling 84 hr. competition.

Renault continued the production until the early 1980s.

A total of 99,792 two and four-door IKA Torino’s were built.
