The Pontiac 6000 was a member of the A-body family of cars produced by General Motors from 1982 to 1996. Intermediate in size (109” wheelbase), the A-bodies included the Chevrolet Celebrity, the Buick Century, and the Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra. The Pontiac 6000 was produced from 1982 to 1991. The Safari station wagon was introduced in 1984 in several trim levels, including the LE, which included wood-grain trim. MSRP was $13,085. The Pontiac 6000 wagon was the final GM-designed station wagon offering from Pontiac.
BRIEF STORY OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE:
This seven-passenger station wagon was built in February 1988 at the GM of Canada assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario. It has a 2.8 liter V-6 multi-port fuel injected engine with a four-speed overdrive transmission, AM/FM stereo with cassette player, and cloth interior. It was sold to Hertz Car Rental in Traverse City, Michigan, and served in the fleet until December 1988. It was purchased by the current owner on January 5, 1989, in Traverse City for $12,500. It had 5,834 miles on it. Since then, it has been titled in Colorado, Michigan, and New Mexico, and was brought to Florida in August 2001. It was a daily driver until August 2003, and then again from March 2008 to March 2009. It has over 260,000 miles on it. The paint, with the exception of the hood, is original. The restoration was performed by J’s Automotive of South Miami, A Auto Tech of Coral Gables, and International Sport Cars of Pembroke Park.
