President Tomás Hernández
November / December
Hi all,
I wanted to say “thank you” to all the members who had their cars at Memory Lane. We had a wonderful turnout of cars that made a beautiful display. Thanks to Ed Medina and Manny Garcia for doing a great job of putting Memory Lane together. I also want to say thank you to Jorge Salazar and all the other members that helped by moving the cars around on move-in day and those who volunteered to watch the cars over the ten-day event at the Miami International Auto Show.
November is a busy month for us. Our next event will be at the Deering Estate on Sunday, November 2. This is a show where we are the guests. We just show up with our cars and enjoy the show and interact with people coming by looking at all the cars. So, if you haven’t been out there before, come by and enjoy. Since it is a state park you would have to pay to get in. It is worth it. The following fun event is the Progressive Lunch. It’s a great opportunity to drive your classic car from one stop to another or you can go modern. Food is always great, so come out and enjoy this wonderful lunch on November 15th. Mark your calendar for Thursday, November 20th for you to attend our General Membership Meeting and cast your vote. It will be Election Night. You have to be present to vote for the Board of Directors and Club Officers. We also have room for additional board members.
Finally, the holiday party on December 6th is at the Miami Outboard Club. We will have lots of giveaways, so don’t miss out on the fun and festivities. Also, we will be swearing in the new board of directors and officers, including the new president. Yes, I will hand down the famous steering wheel to Al Padilla, the next president of our club.
Also, I want to remind all members that if you have a friend who would like to join our club, we have several free one-year memberships that we can give out for our local club and national club. They do not have to have an antique car. So, if you know anybody that would like to join our club, let us know.
I believe this will be my last president’s message. I want to say ”thank you” to all the members of our club. Without you guys, we would not be a club. A special thanks goes to the officers and board members of our club; they do a lot to keep this club moving. If you didn’t know, we are one of the busiest regions in the car hobby. While we are doing shows and events month after month, most of the regions out there do one show a year. I have had the pleasure to travel to those shows and talk to the presidents and members of all the other clubs and they ask, “how can we do so many shows a year and they can only do one?” and I just say that our board works very hard to keep our club members happy. So hopefully I’ll see you guys at our next events.
Your President,
Tomás Hernández, President
A.A.C.A. South Florida Region
