We have had Cars in the Rain, Cars in the Post-Hurricane Clean-up Traffic Jam, even Cars in the Fog. But for the 2019 Cars in the Garden show at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden on Sunday, October 27, it was Cars in the Steamroom as we were treated to a warm and muggy day with plenty of sunshine and a gentle breeze to alleviate some of the humidity. Thanks to Co-chairs Jean Hawa and Chico Goldsmith, AACA South Florida Region and the Sunshine Corvette Club brought out over 75 antiques and Corvettes to the paradise of the tropical gardens and welcomed hundreds of visitors, many with kids in tow and in costume to take part in the festivities.
We wish to thank Hector Gonzalez of Mr. Joseph Fine Dry Cleaning for his support of our show.
We also have to thank the many volunteers who made it happen: For the Antique Show Maurice Hawa did show setup and parking. Philip Williams and Gary Shanock handled the registration table. Luis Quevedo, Tomas Hernandez, William Anello, Gary Stump, Ira Shapiro, and Bob Squier directed the cars to their parking area, and Jean Hawa brought bagels and coffee and awarded the trophies. Frank Jacobs, Cliff Gibson, Perley Richardson and Larry Carman helped with the Corvette Show setup and parking. Diane Preuss, Pam and Chuck Schumacher helped with voting tabulation, and Ron Mitro helped with trophy setup and presentation. Additionally we need to thank Luis Quevedo for his fund raising efforts.
