25th Annual All British Classic Car Show – February 18, 2018

At the Gold Coast British Car Club’s 25th Annual All British Classic Car show held in Boca Raton the A.A.C.A. South Florida Region was well-represented with four cars in the show along with eight others from the local British Car Club of Miami which came up in a caravan from Miami.; a 61 mile journey. There were many fine British cars from the 30’s to a fresh off the lot Aston Martins.  This year they were honoring the Lotus: Super 7, Elan, Elise and Europa. For British car lovers it was a treat.  Here are some of the cars for your enjoyment.

A.A.C.A. Winter Meet – Ocala – February 25, 2017

The South Florida Region was well represented at the Winter Meet in Ocala, Florida held on February 25, 2017.  The day started out foggy, but by mid-morning the sun was shining down on the many wonderful vehicles from around the country, and among them were 13 cars from our club. Although many of the vehicles are of the makes and models seen at many of the shows the quality was truly superior.  It was a wonderful show as you will see in the photos that follow.

Dauer Classic Car Museum Trip – August 27, 2016

On Saturday, August 27, members of the AACA South Florida took a road trip to see the Dr. Eddie Dauer’s private collection of antique cars, housed in a private museum.  We were joined by our friends from the Fort Lauderdale Region, and together about 75 of us enjoyed seeing some of the finest examples of cars ranging in age from 1906 to today, all in settings befitting their era: 50’s convertibles at the drive-in, Cadillac limos lined up outside swanky theatres, station wagons – real woodies included – ready to take the family on vacation.  It was a great time as you can see from the photos.

Dr. Dauer is also one of the leaders of the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, now in planning for its eleventh year, to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.  Many of our club members participate as judges and exhibitors, and we’re happy to be a part of this worthy cause.

Elliott Museum Trip

An important part of any hobby is knowing and appreciating the history behind it.  Fortunately we have a lot of resources in the antique car collector hobby, from books and records to collections of historic interest, and especially fortunate for us here in South Florida, we have a great museum up the coast in Stuart, Florida, at the Elliott Museum. Founded in 1961 by Harmon Elliott, the son of inventor Sterling Elliott, it is home to a great collection of antique automobiles and boats, as well as one of the largest collection of baseball memorabilia outside Cooperstown.  It also houses displays from the early days of Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Thanks to the organizational efforts of Tomas Hernandez and the mini-bus provided by Manny Garcia, about twenty-five members of AACA South Florida took a day trip to Stuart to see the museum and learn about some unique vehicles, including those on permanent display in the three-story storage facility that works like a giant juke box: pick the car you want to see and it is delivered for your viewing pleasure on a turntable in front of you.

It was a good time, and if you weren’t able to go along, here are some photos to show you what’s at this treasure house in Stuart.
